A very British School in Nigeria, a very global outlook

SCHOOL LIFE AND BOARDING

Buckswood is a home. It is a working establishment, it is a school, and most importantly it is a place of learning and friendship. The connection between well-being and home underscores the importance of creating a supportive and nurturing environment that enhances physical, emotional, and social aspects of health and happiness. We believe that it is this sense of happiness and harmony that make the walls of the school stand strong as they are nourished by the laughter and happiness that exudes from the students. By prioritising the well-being of our school, we can cultivate a
space that fosters growth, comfort and safety. Through the promotion of safety and wellbeing we are equipping our students with the tools of tolerance, resilience and maturity to cope with the world at large; be it being safe on the Internet to cultural appropriateness or general health and wellbeing.

The world outside school can be a ‘challenging’ place and we prepare our students to be able to face it equipped so, that they can flourish without fear of failure.

At Buckswood we are all on a learning journey. We see education as a scaffold of support for every student’s life progress and concerns can be tracked and individual pathways formed. We believe in a ‘learner centered’ approach to learning and the promotion of critical and creative thinking.

Academic life at Buckswood is well structured. Learners need structure; it gives them a sense of security, organisation and support. However, we challenge students to challenge themselves, also identifying strengths they didn’t know they had, builds their confidence and it is this confidence that is the key to their success in life. Buckswood has created an environment where everyone feels at home and is comfortable to raise their hand and ask questions; we want every student to be curious and approach learning as a journey of discovery.
